Back No scripting skills needed !
Select your objects > create a group > Property > override > add Parameters > choose view and render visibility override. Drag & drop the view visibility divot on the render visibility divot to link it and key your view visibility override.
And make sure your objects are in partitions with "no effects on members"
Cheers.

I need to animate the render visibility of a whole bunch of objects in my scene. Could somebody give me a few lines of script that will allow me to set keys for render visibility for all objects in a selection.
Yes I am a scripting illiterate. I throw myself on the mercy of the court.
Also for future reference, how do you set the render visibility for all the objects in a hierarchy. I was sorta suprised having converted over from Maya that the children of the parent don't inherit the visibility settings.
