Back For me it seems to be relating to passes and the scenerecovery. And in the scenes I have none of the stuff going on Dave suggested. It seems scene recovery makes things more troublesome than it already is after a crash.... And it always dies at the 'Reference thingy' when loading....
My 2 cents before the weekend,

Question: Did you have crashes and did a crash recovery?
I had exactly the same problem on a scene recently after I did a crash recovery . But it also crashed when I duplicated passes.
Crash recovery seems to screw up scenes sometimes.

Ok.. i am getting pissed off..
we are doing this job in 4.2 and i am tired of the instability issues...
i load a scene.... change the pass from the current one to another one... which has worked int he past...
and the whole software crashes.... no.. wait.. not just failed to save sequence...
dies.. gone
i have had this happen almost a dozen times..
i also have had my share of scenes crashing because a model saved out from another scene... a clean model.. from 4.2.... loads in a nother scene.. then crashes and wont save out... i have to put the objects in a NEW model... in order to get it to work..
this only took a half day of work (with calls to support) to figure out...
is it just me or is this build more unstable than any in a while..
ridiculously unstable..
