  | | | Copy/paste workflow question | Copy/paste workflow question 2005-01-06 - By John Morgan
Back To the new person, some XSI functions just don't make sense, such as creating geometry, texturing (with multiple projections).....and then...oh yeah, I could use another one of these with a different texture mapped to it. So using copy/paste, Voila...a duplicate. Upon trying to apply a new texture to that pre-textured/projected) geometry, one finds all the textures copied too and are now children of the original. Attempts to put new textures over old seem to fail miserably. Obviously there's many things I need to learn. I don't yet know how to nuke an existing texture and replace it with a new one. Would I do this in the Explorer? Or Schematic window? So given that I'm texture dysfunctional, if I wanted 4 of the same pieces of geometry each mapped with different textures, could I create desired geometry, copy/paste (to duplicate) the geometry, then cut the parent/child links that result, then apply a texture and multiple projections on each without problems? Thanks! John
