Gripes with material overrides in 4.2

Gripes with material overrides in 4.2

Am I the only one that material overrides do strictly nothing in XSI 4.2?

For example I want to disable the diffuse color in a pass. So I put an
override on the diffuse_inuse parameter, wich I then disbale.
Well, I render and the diffuse is still rendered.

Alternatively, I put an override on the diffuse color with the intention
of putting a black color in. Not only the overriden parameter not the
right one:
polymsh-cls-poly-clslist-poly-localprops-material-material-shadow-out-diffuse
(although I did it several times, but that happened in all other
versions of XSI),
but even if I rebuild the override with scripting (wich overrides the
proper parameter), well, the original diffuse color of the object is
rendering, despite having a black color_share connected to the override.

Am I missing something or what?

When I put overrides on the lights it works very well....

Thanks
Bernard
