XSI4.0 Hair Emitter Subdivision Problem 2004-12-06 - By Luke
Back Hi,
I am currently having a problem when changing the EmitterMeshSubdlevel (is called "Emitter Subd Level" in the GUI) in XSI4.0 to a value higher than 0. If I move to level 1, the hair seems to clump to the centres of the underlying polygons.
i.e., If my hair emitter object (poly object) is at level 2 subdivision, than changing the hair EmitterMeshSubdlevel to 2 makes the hair clump at the centres of the emitter object level 0 polys, but the hair at a EmitterMeshSubdlevel of 0 gives an even distribution of hair, but obviously doesn't emit at the right height from the surface.
Has anyone come across this one before??
It's bizarre because If I export the model as an obj file and reimport it the problem is gone - which leads me to believe it is something wierd with the mesh, but I'd like to know why it is happening, rather than have a temporary solution.
cheers,
Luke.
