How to remove dotXSI material ?

How to remove dotXSI material ?

Hi.

I've got a dotXSI import from 3dsmax6.

The dotXSI exporter for Max6 assign one material by object :-( so I need to
re-assign materials in XSI.
I can't assign a new material in branch selection nor removed the original
dotXSI material (there are no clusters)?
If I directly assign a material to an imported dotXSI object it works. But
when I removed the material, the original dotXSI material come back instead
of the scene mat. Very strange...
The only workaround is to delete all the materials in an explorer.

By curiosity, is there a way to "disconnect" the invisible link between the
dotXSI material and the mesh ?

Cheers.

PS : There is no pb with the dotXSI exporter for Maya 6.
