Often the best way to go. ^_^ The "KaWoosh" on Stargate was made by
blowing compressed air into a large tank. Actually, I recommend the
Stargate SG-1 DVDs for the reasonably useful "behind the scenes"
specials they have showing the process of how they make the effects and
match them to the live action. The motion control dots gave me a lot
think about my own bad self.

Ah. "Crude but effective"!

It may help to know that they achieved that effect by keying over the
actor with some glitter suspended in water.

If I were you, I would look for the simple, mechanical ways to do such
effects instead of trying to do them all on the computer. You'll save
yourself a lot of time, money and headaches.
