Back I'm sorry I don't have time to try this before posting but if the surfaces are nurbs you could try doing a boolean and use the resultant curve as an emitter.
Hope this helps,

Subject: Emitting particles from object intersection.
> Hi, I have a little problem that I am trying to get a handle on, bascially I need to set something up that will alow me to emit particles based on the intersection of two objects. I would also like to know if its actually possible to also emit along the intersection line. (i.e. a small ball flying into and through a large box, as the ball passes into the box particles are emitted first from a point then from a grawing and shrinking ring as the ball passes through the surface ..... just curious if this is possible either with the standard tools, with MEL or would I need to goto the SDK. > cheers gary. > > PS: I would just like to say a big thank you to all the kind folks that have helped me out with tips and tricks over the last 6 months, my Maya work / understanding has moved on by leaps and bounds and i`m very much indetted to everyone one on the list .... thank you all. >
