Andy, Rob,
Thanks for that tip. Currently teh object is not textured so it
shouldnt be a problem. I'm basically try to make a line draw with some
amount of thickness.  I could have probably done this as a paint effect
but the line intersects through objects and I didnt want it to get
messy. Thanks.

Aleksander,
I think I understand what you were referring to now. I was able to get
the wire to deform the lattice just fine. I just wasnt sure what you
were using the blendshape for but now I understand you premise for its
use. Thanks.

Jason,
Not to start a flame war or such, but I used Softimage3D prior to
coming to Maya. Softimage3D had one of the coolest "deform by
spline/surface" features I've ever seen. If you created the spline in Y,
and repositioned the object in Y appropriately you could deform any
object, mesh or nurbs, onto the spline. You could also deform any object
to a NURBS surface. By modifying translation, rotation and scale you
could create some realy interest effects. But what was really neat was
that you could animate the object along the spline while it was being
deformed. It's one of the few things I realy miss from Softimage3D, and
as much mastery as Alias has with its NURBS engine, I've never quite
understood why Maya didn't have something similar.
