It's better, as it's the havok 2 engine - soft bodies, a lot faster etc.
See havok site for infos.

Have a look on their side. I personally haven't checked it out yet.
Pathfinding is included in the standard package. :O)

Dunno as i'm also new to virtools since last week, so i'm also a newbie! :O)
But i guess there is also a community there...

Since now i haven't stumbled over the dirty little things which can make you
project a pain.
All is easy going till now. But as i'm new to virtools i would take my
advice with care.

As always it depends on  the project.

Virtools is not a common multimedia software.

It's more specific for 3d stuff. It's 3d-authoring, sdk (write you own dlls)
webplayer...
But in the 3d field it's much better than director.

So if you want fancy graphics, more complex projects, more speed, xbox&pc
it's virtools.
If you're doing small things, have less budget or existing director code to
use i would go with director

If you want a swiss knife go with director i would say.
If you have a complex 3d only project, i would suggest virtools.

Have a look at their website, there you will find some good infos to get a
small overview.

some more pros from my point of view:

- very good help
- 3d authoring in development out of the box
- profiler which tracks performance bottlenecks
- 3d sound with sound cones
- ...

Exporting Support is given for:

- 3dsmax
- maya
- lightwave

And an important aspect for me was, that i was TIRED of BEGGING macromedia
for a 3d upgrade anymore!
This software reminds me of having fun again and not feeling like: I wanna
play with the toys of the big boys but i only have director.

Greetings,

taumel
