Fuel 's new websites (X-post) 2004-03-04 - By Brian Robbins
Back We launched both of these Sunday night, and are still working out a few of the last kinks, but I suppose they're far enough along to tell you about them:
<http://www.cowboysandengines.com/> - This is a 3D multi-user environment that I've been working on for the past several months. It features a main junkyard area, and currently two sub-games (Blackjack and a Shooting Gallery) that you can get to within the main environment.
<http://www.fuelindustries.com/> - Our new corporate website. Very Flash heavy, with lots of content and experimental stuff. There's also lots of little things hidden in such as games within each major sub section. (You should also play around with the match :)
On a technical note, Cowboys & Engines was modeled in Max and Maya. The server is Flashcom going through a tiny utility Flash sprite (thanks Mark Jonkman). The actual client side of the server code is written in Lingo using newObject and setCallback. If you have any technical questions or suggestions about how or why we did things a certain way, please feel free to ask, and I'll try to answer as many as I can. This represents a lot of work from our team, and one of the things that we would like to do is use this to help the entire community elevate their own work.
As I mentioned before we're still working out a few remaining issues on the site, but for the most part it's ready for public consumption.
Finally, both sites are designed for broadband, and Cowboys & Engines is also designed for hardware acceleration. If you don't have this you may not have the best experience.
So, please head on over, take a look around, and let me know what you think both good and bad!
