Wow, how did I miss that one!
Thanks for the ideas, but doing a pixel compare sounds rather expensive in performance. As the bitmaps are being loaded on demand, I need to keep the time it takes to a minimum, otherise it will be very annoying to use.

I did wonder if something like that might work, but as you say if the artist has inadvertantly placed an opaque alpha then it will give the wrong result.
Thanks anyway i'll keep those in for the future, but for now file typing appears to be the simplest way forward.
