Thx,
You may try "unify surface normals" in the face select mode. Rendering with
"force two sided" on in 3dsmax will gernerate an image that looks correct
even though it may not be. As I recall it is defaulted to "on".
Also, it is a good idea to reset the X-form and collapse your stack before
expoerting.

One thing to check is the compression settings in the exporter, I'm not sure
if that is your problem, but I've had the compression distort meshes before.
