Hmmm...
Good question. In that case I think the only sensible method will be to find the point on the box face above each of the tile corners. The highest point will always be on a vertex of the quad traced out by these points, I'm pretty sure.
I have to finish for today, but if you need help finding the four points, let me know and I'll help when I next get online, if not, I'm sure one of the other fine people here could do it.
