>From our end all seems to be just fine with getPref() and setPref() in that you do not need to assign the return result to a variable, you can if you like but on my end it's just not required at all. If anyone has a reproducible case where getPref() and/or setPref() do require you to trap the return value in a variable else you get unstable behavior or script errors, then please contact me directly off-list so I can have a look at those files.

We did in fact change the location for prefs file writing so as to avoid user restrictions on NT-based and OSX systems. Previously we were writing to a folder either next to the projector or in the Shockwave player's folder, now that has changed so that we write to a user specific data folder instead (true for all environments). I'm sorry but at this moment I don't have those locations sorted out and they're not in the docs, I'm working with a QA colleague and we've requested this information from the engineer that did this work. Once we have that we will work with the support team to get a tech note posted in addition to adding comments to LiveDocs online.
