Serious XSI 4 Dual Screen Layout problems +++ part 2

Serious XSI 4 Dual Screen Layout problems +++ part 2

2004-08-12       - By Michael Klein, President of Virtual Republic

Hello,

the problem is getting more critical for me here because we use XSI 4 in
production.

Again some info about the hardware:
DELL PWS650 Dual Xeon 2,8 GHz
2 GB RAM
Latest XP with SP2
Hyperthreading OFF
Quadro FX 3000 with 56.77 (Dual Screen)

Since SP2 the problem exists. The other workstations with Quadro 980 XGL and
SP2 don't have the problem but XSI 4 seems to be overall unstable and
critical for deadlined production.
Several driver versions were installed. Just the newest 61.77 solves the
crashing problem but other problems forced me to switch back to 53.03 or
56.77.
Another strange thing is that just in my user profile XSI is able to start
if the >shelves< Dual Layout isn't used. With ALL other profiles incl. Admin
XSI will not start.
XSI 4 feels overall not good to work with. Too many crashes without a reason
why.

Deleting the XSI_4.0 folder will not help in this case. Must be a special
thing within the user profile. Very strange.
Our SysAdmin doesn't have any idea how to solve the problem asap. Working
makes no fun anymore. Now it's time for support.

Any same frustrating experience with XSI 4 out there?
