rendering question 2004-02-05 - By Thomas Williams
Back editable poly is helpful for modeling. It is vastly superior to editable Mesh. Max 5 and 6 have incorporated a series of mesh editing tools from the maxscript 'meshtools' (which came from a program called 'mirai' which is a lite version of Nitchiman with is derived from Symbolics). It allows for a very powerful edge based sed of tools, that include multisided polygons, 'borders' (the edges arounf a hole) and amazing edge editing tools, like select 'edge loop' and 'edge ring', 'connect','cut' and dozens of other abilities that make editable mesh look like a useless primitive. Check the tutorials for details. Max's editable poly tools are very amazing indeed. of course you do need to convert to EM to get an accurate tri count.
