adjusting animation speed across machines

adjusting animation speed across machines

That would make sense but I see a very noticeable difference in the
speed of the walk on the two machines I am testing on (fast G4 and
mid-range Windows machine) when the playrate is kept the same (for
keyframe and bonesplayer modifiers).

That's why I am wondering if there is something else that would be
making the difference (across machines).

BTW: I have put the game in #software on both machines also: Then the
fps is the same(both machines get around 9 fps during the walk sequence
in #software) and there is the same big difference in walk speed between
both machines.

Is this unusual? Does the processor speed affect the speed of a
time-based walk animation?

You shouldn't have to adjust the playRate at all.  The bonesPlayer (and
I'm pretty sure the keyframePlayer) is already time-based.  So a
playRate of 1.0 will play at exactly the same speed on every machine.
With a higher framerate it will just be smoother.

So for you project, you should just set the playRate to a fixed step,
and leave it there.
