I'm not sure I follow you - groups are, like models, a node.
They can have all the translation and rotation info that a model can,
just without some of the overhead.
I don't think what you are doing is wrong, it's just a group makes more
sense to me if all you are using your model for is positional and
rotational information.
Probably saves about 1 line of code as well - ooooooh!
