I've read and done some tutorials from some websites:

http://www.xsibase.com /tutorials/hair.php

http://www.raffael3d.com /tutorials.php

http://enemy.mesmer.com/moebius /FMPro?-db=article&-format=free%5ftutorial%5fread.html&-sortfield =LearningOrder&-op=eq&ProductName=XSI%20Hair%20Rendering&-max=1& -find=

And have read the newly arrived docs from SoftImage. The mesmer site above lists some optimization techniques, but I am looking for more info on this. At this point, I am just doing some tests. I have a sphere with hair on it, am using geometry hairs, have 6500 hairs with a strand multiplier of 3, bsp depth at 20, size at 38. These renders are extremely slow. I'm looking for more info on how to speed renders up. Also, any more tutorials on hair in general.

I read the recent thread on fur. Nice work Alastair!

The hair looks great, but man it's expensive at render time.

Any ideas, tips or links are greatly appreciated.

cheers,

-Matt

--- Unsubscribe?
