Funily the displacement is tied to the polygong geometry you send to mental ray
, therefore if you subdivide the object further (let's say is a subdiv object to
level 2) to for example level 4, this will increase the ammount of detail along
with your render times.  :-(

This is plain wrong, and would even say double plain wrong but is just to long
to explain... i guess is one of those architectural constraints that hopefully
will be updated soon with the next mental ray release and some tweaks in XSI.

My problem with the system is the way is done, i just want to indicate the max
displacement and the displacement map, that is it, all the rest should be
automatic AND efficient as it is on Air for example.
