link deform with orientation

you must be forgetting to save a deform key.. Set the link
first..byselecting the cluster you're working with ... it establishes the
neutral pose and the orientation of the bone in question,

bend arm, sculpt new pose.. select the cluster > Save Deform Key

That should do it..

You shouldn't need to key the weights
