Back Are you using the default PPG layout or are you using "Tab style editor" as available in the user preferences?
My **guess** is that XSI is spending so much time updating your PPG's that it doesn't get around to the animation (backwards if you ask me). If you're using the default layout for PPG's it means all the parameters and pages are listed vertically in one very long page. That means every parameter of every tab of the render option PPG is being updated with each refresh. If you change over to "Tab style editor" from your user preferences, then each tab is shown on it's own page like a book and only the displayed tab will be updated which will allow more time to be spent on updating the animation your scene. Your scene may still scrub slowly, but perhaps not as much. You'll have to restart XSI before the "tab style editor" option takes effect....if you use it.

i have a scene that plays back at about 1 frame every 3 seconds if i have the render panel open (i can see the name of the pass flickering as though its being repeatedly updated ) if i switch back to the modeling window i get reasonable frame rates again instantly........... I have a reasonable number of passes and a mildly heavy fx tree......
any idea what is being calculated?
I initially thought it was my fxtree being calculated (even when neither the fx viewer, or fx tree windows werent open) mildly confused _sam --- Unsubscribe?
