It's a bit 'non-technical' but hopefully it points people in the right
direction.

that's the one. It also illustrates quite well the thing with the bevel
edges not shading correctly.

Here's a little something I put together a while back

   http://www.chnl1.tv/tutorial_4.htm

It might help explain what's happening.

assuming the faces of the cubes are flat, your vertexnormals aren't
correct for flat faced cubes and none of the cubes are correct. You've added
bevels or rounding to the edges of the cube but haven't born in mind that
the normal calculator is going to average the normals between the bevels and
the larger faces of the cube. It's a common mistake. Select all the large
faces, duplicate and scale down very slightly.

       hi everyone.

there is something that i didn't  understood with reflection
behavior.
If you look to the picture, if you see the 3 cube on the left , you
can see the reflection "tiled" but if you get the same surface but on the
same object the reflection "looks" more acurate.

It's me or it's normal ? if i observe around me, the right cube
looks better.

I guess i have to deal with passes to get what i want. but if there
is another way to do it..... tell me.

       Thanks Harry.
